- M.S.Ed. in Early Childhood focuses on birth through age 8 as well as an an understanding of the family and community contexts in which these children are educated.
- M.S.Ed. in Educational Leadership is tailored for educators who wish to become leaders in their classrooms, schools, districts or other educational settings.
- M.S.Ed. in Special Education (new, starting January 2020) is designed to both provide a 4+1 pathway for UMF undergraduate students as well as support the needs of public school personnel interested in teaching and leadership roles in Special Education.
- M.Ed. in Instructional Technology is a 100% online Master of Education program offered through UMaine Online that prepares educators to create rich and meaningful learning experiences using the latest technology.
Graduate Certificate Programs

Non-Degree Graduate Programs
The UMF Division of Graduate & Continuing Education offers other professional programs and courses.
- Maine Mathematics Coaching Project is designed to support teachers transitioning to the role of mathematics coach
- Special Education Alternative Route to Certification (SPARC)?is designed to help school districts address a severe shortage of special educators.
Continuing Education
The Division of Graduate & Continuing Education offers a number of Continuing Education courses. We currently have three courses available for Spring 2020 that may be of particular interest to non-traditional aged, undergraduate students. More courses will be added as they become available.
Professional Development
UMF also offers Professional Development opportunities throughout the year to support practicing educators in their career growth. Recent conferences and workshops have included The National Math Coaching Conference, The Assistive Technology Summit, and Decoding & The Struggling Reader Workshops.
